Events: Baseball and Spring Training

Play ball!

Spring is here which means Spring Training is back in Southwest Florida. Every March, nationally recognized major league baseball teams, the Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins, head south to sunny Southwest Florida. Can’t make it during spring, our local minor league teams play all summer long!

The Minnesota Twins have called our are their spring training destination since 1991. That same year, they won a record 21 games during spring training before going on to win the World Series. Hammond Stadium welcomes them back each spring, but hosts minor league team the Fort Myers Miracles throughout the year. Hammond Stadium hosts everything a seasoned Twins fan or a new fan would want—including a menu that would please any Minnesotan, authentic cheese curds.

The Boston Red Sox play at the state-of-the-art stadium Jet Blue Park, also called Fenway South. With the ability to hold up to 11,000 people, many consider attending a Spring Training game the highlight of their time in Florida during springtime. The park pays homage to the official Home of the Red Sox, Fenway Park in Boston with its very own “big green monster” wall in left field.

Missed the 2019 season? Ticket prices and game schedules are released in mid-November and tickets are generally available for purchase in December and January. Many tickets are also available on the day of the game.
