Fort Myers Beach Pier To Close For Maintenance

Fort Myers Beach’s iconic pier is closing for routine repairs this month. According to Lee County officials, the pier will be closed for three days beginning Wednesday, September 11th for pest control. It will reopen on September 14th.

Then, beginning Monday, September 16th, the pier will be closed on weekdays for two weeks while roofing and maintenance work is being performed. The pier will be open weekends from sundown Friday until sunrise Monday.

The shelters with grills, restroom, and changing facility at Lynn Hall Park will remain open during the repairs.

As one of the most iconic landmarks and attractions on Fort Myers Beach, the historic Fort Myers Beach pier is a must-do activity during your time spent in sunny Southwest Florida.

Located less than five minutes by foot from our property, swing by for a stroll or bring a fishing pole for sunrise, sunset, or any other time for that matter!

Per The Island Sandpaper:

“The original went up in the 1930’s as a wooden edifice, with the adjacent land used for parking, picnicking, swimming and sunbathing without amenities. Lee County acquired the property in 1948, and built a bathhouse in 1953. The mid-1970’s brought the new concrete pier that the County dedicated in 1976. In May 1991, a major storm with extremely high waves struck the island, causing extensive pier damage, leading to a significant reconstruction into the one we use today, allowing fishermen, locals, and tourists alike to enjoy recreation, socializing and breathtaking sunsets, as well as being the backdrop for about a billion photographs.”

The Fort Myers Beach Pier is the perfect place to fish, people watch, take photos, stroll, soak up the sun, and catch an epic sunrise or sunset. As a central hub of activity, grab an ice cream cone at a local establishment and take a walk as the sun shines down on you and as dolphins splash beneath you.

Rudy’s Treasure Chest, located halfway down the pier offers fishing pole rentals, snacks, beach gear, boards, and local souvenirs. Grab a cold drink, fresh bait and park yourself at the top of the pier to experience one of the best fishing spots in Southwest Florida.

On the weekends, enjoy a sunset celebration at the foot of the pier with bands, artists and other interesting performers.
